Marismo - Jose Ignacio Restaurant

Marismo - Jose Ignacio Restaurant

The Scene:

Most people just know it as a restaurant,  located on a gravel road off the main highway from La Barra just past the town of Jose Ignacio. One of the area's trendiest eateries, Marismo also offers a quirky tiki bar overlooking an open-air dining room with sand floor that's often standing-room only in January high-season. You won't find white tablecloths or crystal stemware, instead a well-worn wood bar is lined in knotty pine chairs attracting a local contingent of Malbec and Don Pasqual drinkers. By 1am the entire place reverts into a beach bar as locals order-up carafes of Rose and white sparkling wine with live DJ or musicians spinning sexy grooves. By night the location intensifies with more of an upscale vibe complete with bonfires and subtle flirtation. A well-kept secret is that the bartender can help arrange a table for beloved drinkers that manage to strike his fancy, even on tough Christmas-New Year's nights. For those lucky enough to nosh, try some of the slow-cooked meats like the lamb or a hearty grilled seafood platter.
